自分史語り　その２

今日のボランティアグループ「たまがわ」の自分史語りは、８０歳のＳさん。
Ｓさんは、玉川を代表するボランティアの達人。
そのＳさんは、若い頃、戦争で外地に渡られていた。ご自身の戦争体験、そして生死を分けた昭和２０年１１月今治沖で起きた第十東予丸沈没事件。

この事件は、終戦後の１９４５年１１月６日に起こった「愛媛県における海難史上最大の惨事」と呼ばれているそうです。
　当時第十東予丸には一般市民１８０人、朝鮮済州島方面からの復員兵約４００人、乗組員十数人、計約６００人が乗船していましたが、救助された遭難者は、ほとんどが元気な復員軍人で、一般乗客の大半は、船内にすし詰めになっていたため船と運命を共にし、海中深く没してしまったそうです。
この船に乗ったのは、Ｓさんの友人、同じ玉川の人。そしてＳさんご自身は、ひと便後の船に乗って助かったそうです。
　戦争中のお話もさることながら、終戦になり故郷今治の地が見え初めて多くの人が甲板に出ていたまさにその時に起きたこの惨事は、胸に詰まるものがありました。

　戦争のことをこういう身近な方から聞くと、今まで自分はいかに知らなかったか痛感します。今でも世界の中には戦争で苦しんでいる人がいるにもかかわらず、自分の平和への鈍感さに呆れもします。

Ｓさんから、「軍隊手帖」を見せていただきました。中には、「十一月十日　復員完結」の文字もありました。本当に汗と涙でぼろぼろでした。
Ｓさんの話は１回で終わらず、今日はＰＡＲＴ１となりました。次回またＰＡＲＴ２を楽しみにしています。

この「自分史語り」は、手前味噌ですが、とてもいい企画だと思っています。
有名な人でなくても、人はそれぞれの人生で主人公であり、そこには作り物でないドラマがあります。
ずっと継続していって、何かの形にできればと願っています。
